General Academic Calendars for UPC Doctoral Studies

Admission days

Admission is open continuously. Unless otherwise stated, admissions decided before April allow students to enroll in the current enrolment term, whereas admissions decided after April have validity for the following enrolment term.

Enrolment days

New students should contact doctorat.computacio at upc.edu

For already-enrolled students, the administrative staff will send them an email around mid-September with the specific dates of the enrollment period (usually between the second and third week of October).

Annual evaluation (2024/25)

The annual evaluation affects all students enrolled in the program.

Since April 2025, the annual evaluation process is handled with Phedra.

Students: all documentation must be submitted by June 22nd, 2025 (decision of the Doctoral School on May 13th) the submission via Phedra is already enabled).
PhD advisors: evaluation reports must be submitted by July 13, 2025
Academic Committee: publication of annual evaluation results: September 16, 2025 (at the latest)
Students: deadline for submitting an appeal to the Academic Committee regarding the annual evaluation results: September 22, 2025 (by a motivated email to the program coordinator)
Students: deadline to resubmit the documents for an additional evaluation (only students with a previous negative evaluation): December 2, 2025 (Phedra)
Academic Committee: publication of the additional evaluation results (only students with a previous negative evaluation): December 19th, 2025 (Phedra)

Research Plan Public Presentation (2024/25)

The public defense of the research plan is for students in their second year of studies.

Since April 2025, the submission of the documents related to the research plan is handled with Phedra.

Enrolment: together with annual enrolment.
Ordinary period:
- Documentation due: June 13, 2025
- Validation by advisors: June 19, 2025
- Validation by coordinator: June 20, 2025 (to be confirmed)
- Public presentation: July 1 - 16, 2025
Extraordinary periods, if authorized:
- Documentation due: February 14, 2025 / December 2, 2025
- Public presentation: February 26 - March 4, 2025 / December 9-20, 2025

Deadline extension/temporary leave applications

At enrolment time or at least two months before the deposit deadline.
